Newly elected Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel has made plans to visit the city “soon.
” Anonymous sources within the former Chief of Staff’s campaign team have indicated that a trip to Chicago is indeed in the works for the mayor-elect, perhaps as soon as this fall.
Controversy arose during the campaign when the Illinois First District Appellate Court alleged that Mr. Emmanuel was not actually a resident of Chicago.
(Mr. Emmanuel had lived in Washington D.
C. for the previous two years while serving as Chief of Staff to President Obama).
Speaking from safely outside the city limits, the mayor’s press secretary remarked, “The mayor is very excited to see Navy Pier, maybe head up to the top of the Sears Tower, catch a Cubs game, you know — he wants to see the sights; get to know his city.
Just not too soon. We don’t want to rush into things.
