Vogler, who has been deaf and mute for his entire life, auditioned in early October and impressed Spoken Word members with his ability to stare poetically into the distance.

While many are pleased with Vogler’s historic admission into the Collective, others feel that it’s too little, too late.

“I think it’s kinda dumb that it took them so long to finally accept a mute member,” said Vivian Garner of the ASSU.

“To determine whether the [Spoken Word] Collective has previously discriminated against mute auditioners, the ASSU will be holding multiple hearings.”

When asked about his thoughts on his acceptance into the Collective, Jacob Vogler was unable to comment.
