Okay, so call me crazy, but I think a crocodile would win in a matchup against an alligator. Now, to be fair, I’m not completely sure about this. I wouldn’t bet my life on it. To be honest, I can’t say I would even put $100 on it. But let me outline to you why I’m moderately confident about the crocodile’s chances.

First of all, size. It makes a difference. And typically crocodiles are usually bigger than alligators, weighing in at up to a cool one ton. But this is also where things get a little fuzzy. Are we talking about pygmy crocodiles? Because they’re significantly smaller. And if one of those puppies is going up against a larger alligator, like an American alligator, then maybe the alligator has the upper hand. So yeah, if I had to pick one to win in a fight, I’d go with the crocodile, but I’m not certain.

Now, for personality. We’ve all heard it. It’s a commonly known fact that crocodiles are more aggressive than alligators, I don’t have to tell you that.

But consider this: a particularly aggressive alligator, one who hasn’t eaten in a while, is maybe getting a little angry. Pitted against an elderly crocodile, who’s getting a little complacent and lazy in his old age? There’s no telling who would come out on top. Generalizing, the crocodile will win most of the fights, but honestly, the alligator is a little bit of a wild card, so I wouldn’t be able to tell you with 100% certainty.

I know what you’re thinking, I’m leaving out the most obvious factor of all. But I’ve thought about it and bite strength is a tough one.

Crocodiles could win in terms of sheer force for sure. But the alligator has a more specialized snout, and that can certainly be advantageous in some circumstances. Nine times out of ten, the crocodile’s is going to be more useful.

It’s just hard for me to say definitively though.

This is really just barely scratching the surface on the intricacies of the showdown. I haven’t even mentioned integumentary sense organs yet! Anyway, if I were to bet on this cage match, I would definitely go with the crocodile. But remember, I wouldn’t bet that much on it, nothing too valuable. But probably the crocodile’s gonna win.
