Last week, Scientists at the Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California have found what appears to be evidence of running water on Mars.

On Thursday, NASA’s Opportunity rover found several craters which had remains of broken plumbing systems, and a stainless steel kitchen sink.

“This is a major breakthrough,” said Howard Benson, the chief NASA scientist on the project. “It seems like this sink could handle both hot and cold water. It’s almost impossible to fathom what this means for the future of our research.” Though we can’t know for sure, the presence of indoor plumbing indicates the possibility that life may have evolved on Mars.”

Benson speculates that the kitchen sink is a sign of the existence of ancient life on Mars that needed to wash its hands and brush its teeth. “We are still looking for the dishes,” he said.
