In an unexpected turn of events last Tuesday, May 20, Leo Harolds turned to his roommate, Jack Rendhart and asked, “Hey man, is it cold outside?” The following is an exclusive inside look at the conversation between the two students.
“Yeah, I guess so,” Rendhart replied. “I mean, I don’t think it’s too cold, but it kind of is. You know.”
“Do you think I should put on a jacket?”
Rendhart shrugged. “It’s up to you.”
“Okay, I think I will,” Harolds said, feeling enlightened now that his roommate and fellow Computer Science major had articulated an idea that he himself had not yet considered. After a moment’s pause, he said, “What’s up with this weather, man? It’s like 63°, and it’s the middle of May. That’s not right.”
“I don’t know,” Rendhart answered. “And we had that weird heat wave too.
But now it’s cold again. Maybe, it’s, like global warming, or something.”
“Yeah, it’s definitely weird, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. Definitely.”
Having nothing more to say, the two sat in silence. No doubt each was further contemplating the climate around them.
