Flipside Staff Note: Reporter Gabby Yang, sat down with the Black solo poly hijabi amputee—an overnight sensation on Twitter in November 2024, known as “the most woke figure in the world.” After all the attention from political critics on both sides, the Black solo poly hijabi amputee bowed out of the spotlight. Yesterday, Flipside was granted an exclusive interview.

Gabby Yang: Thank you so much for meeting with us. Before we start, can you introduce yourself?

Black Solo Poly Hijabi Amputee: Of course, I’m happy to be here. Before we start today, I think it’s important to acknowledge that this Zoom interview is taking place on the virtual ancestral lands of the Tamagotchi. As you know, I’m the Twitter Black solo poly hijabi amputee, and my pronouns are xe/xem/xyrs/ze/zir/fae/faer/thon/verself.

GY: Walk us through your thought process on election night. How did you feel seeing all those seats flip?

BSPHA: Living as a Black solo poly hijabi amputee in this country this last decade has been hard, and I honestly lost faith in 2024 after I went viral for being “too woke.”

GY: It must have felt amazing to see your country show such open support for Democratic candidates and marginalized people. What is giving you hope right now?

BSPHA: Oh, no. I was not impressed by these results. Why is it 2026 and we’re just now having our first Native American governor, a state’s first transgender legislator, and first Black woman governor? This is honestly the bare minimum for a country with such a diverse population. And these politicians are barely intersectional, too!

GY: What do you mean? Isn’t a Black, transgender, or Native American woman a quintessential example of intersectionality?

BSPHA: Barely! Just two overlapping identities is practically nothing! Try five. It’s always just “woman of color” or “twink with ADHD” but you never see them include Black solo poly hijabi amputees. There are literally no spaces for me. I don’t want to be named after an object like other non-binary people, I’m too solo for polycules, and I have one too many legs for amputees. Everyone acts like Black solo poly hijabi amputees don’t need community too.

GY: Wow, I’ve never thought of that before. You seem like you’ve given this a lot of thought. What do you propose as a solution?

BSPHA: I’m so glad you asked, Gabby. I actually want to take the moment to provide a small bit of light in these dark times. I am officially announcing my run for office to make the world a more representative place and be a role model for people like me. By 2028, the country will hopefully have their first-ever Black solo poly hijabi amputee President of the United States.

GY: This is such exciting news! Thanks so much for talking to us today.
